Lac Daumesnil: A Parisian happiness
Lake Daumesnil is an artificial lake of 12 hectares , fed by water from the marl and created from scratch. It has two separate islands, the island of Reuilly and the island of Bercy, connected by bridges.
Where it is?
It is located south-west of the Bois de Vincennes, east of Paris. This territory has been a forest since antiquity and the hunting ground of the kings of France.
Located in Paris, this lake is a real place of rest and relaxation for Parisians in search of greenery and fleeing concrete . All around this lake there is a path, called "promenade Maurice-Boitel", which allows pedestrians to walk along the shores of the lake.
The story :
Created from scratch during the secon d Empire, the lake is born from the desire of Napoleon III and Baron Haussmann. The aim was to provide green spaces as large and pleasant as those in London. It is part of green project born in the middle of the nineteenth century such as:
- Monce park at
- The Buttes- C haumont park
- Montsouris park
